This whole song perfectly captures how I think the Once-ler would feel when thinking about Evie over the years after she was committed, but it can fit her feelings about him and their less-than-perfect marriage.

Pretty accurately sums up Evie and the Once-ler's relationship once he becomes successful with the Thneeds.

After being discharged from the asylum and without the Once-ler, Evie tries to find her own way in life. It's painful and sad, but the time and space allows her to begin picking up the pieces and working out the puzzle of her own identity.
